Treasurers Report:
We closed on the 12 acres and have a balance of $9,200.00.
We have decided to move our accounting from Balmer & Nelson. Hap has installed QuickBooks and will re-enter 2007. Fairfield Accounting will have QuickBooks on their server, so the books will always be maintained. Our new mailing address is 2151 185th Street, Lot #1, Fairfield, IA 52556. All of our bills are to be sent to this address.
Great Places:
- Grant updates:
- Alces Foundation update: Application is in and $10,000 is expected. We will hear the 1st of May if we have it.
- J. A. Woollam Foundation: They requested that we follow up this month. Lonnie and Diana will do that.
- Fundraising:
- Ecovilliage tours: Eco Village resident Stacy Maurer receives 1 or 2 requests per week (at least). We are going to begin asking for a donation. Suggested voluntary donation of $10/person, $50 - $100 for a large tour. The SLC will organize tours for Eco Village with Lonnie and Stacy receiving half of the revenue rate.
- Raffle of Bioneers tapes: We are looking do have it at EcoFair. Lonnie will check to see if that will be possible.
- Showing of Bioneers tapes. Stacy will organize. We are looking to complete by the end of April.
- Fairfield Carbon Offset will be put on our web site.
- Hap will formulate a fundraising letter.
- Self-guided tour: Brian has written much of the information for the signs and a brochure is in the making. Lonnie and Briggs have decided that we need 15 signs. Briggs had a sign mocked up which we approved. We are pricing flat metal signs that will sit on posts. Briggs had prices for corrugated plastic. Briggs, Brian and Lonnie will have the information for the signs finished in one week.
- Walking path: Stacy has found someone to do paths and we will have the numbers in a week.
- Admissions Update: Permaculture course/BGS. We have 6 students signed up for Big Green Summer and 5 for the permaculture course. Many more in the pike but are waiting for scholarship money. Stuart may have some for us.
- Building update: The building committee will meet separately and discuss building and infrastructure. They are: Briggs, Ben, Hap, Lonnie, Ken and Bryan.
- Big Green Summer Website:
Posters will be placed on the website this week so that people around the country can download.
Sustainable Living Coalition:
- Permaculture Courses: Taproot/Cedar Rapids
If the contact comes through the SLC a minimum of 10% comes back to the SLC.
- Sustainable Cities Solutions (SCS): SLC would hire SCS to put together a strategic marketing project for a 20% fee. We are getting a legal opinion to look in to our relationship.
The Meeting Adjourned: 9:25
Respectfully Submitted,
Diana Krystofiak
