- Bioneers
- In 2004 and 2005, Fairfield launched the first solar powered "Beaming Bioneers" conference. The event was so successful that it outgrew the facilities in Fairfield. With the new Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, Fairfield hopes to resume hosting Bioneers Conferences in the future. Read an article from the Iowa State Daily about our conference.
Founded in 1990, Bioneers is a nonprofit organization that promotes practical environmental solutions and innovative social strategies for restoring the Earth and communities. Bioneers offers pragmatic solutions that honor the living web of the natural world as the most fertile source of inspiration and models.

- Fairfield's community low-power radio station, 100.1 FM. The initial leg of a fundraising campaign was kicked off on July 20th 2006 when Lonnie Gamble presented a check for $2000 to KRUU on behalf of the Sustainable Living Coalition and Roger Gipple, that was doubled to $4000 with matching funds.
- PowerShift
- The SLC supported one student to attend the first national youth summit to solve the climate crisis.
- MUM Ecofair
- Day-long workshops in ecological design.
