Summer Cafe Permaculture Series is Here!

As part of our "Summer Cafe Permaculture Series", starting July 8th, each Thursday the SLC will host either a free speaker, workshop, film or music event. Diner will be served with outdoor seating starting each Thursday at 6:30 pm. Programed events will start promptly at 8:00pm

This Thursday Michael Cook will be offering a free public presentation and leading a discussion relating to his work with the City Repair Project in Portland, Oregon. www.cityrepair.org.

City Repair is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help neighborhoods build a sense of community and ecological awareness. This group is leading the way in urban permaculture applications, utilizing tactics such as: painting intersections, building cob benches, public art, creating gathering space and growing gardens. In a time where the urban lifestyle is so deeply entangled in the larger culture of consumption and global economic supply chains, City Repair and their crew of creative social entrepreneurs are paving the way (as well as depaving) to a more beautiful world.

Kyle Sieck, a local chef, will prepare a soup, local wheat berries and provide salad for $6.00.

Diner is from 6:30-8:00, with Michael beginning at 8pm.  Spread the word, this is the first installation of the Summer Cafe Permaculture Series! Stay tuned for more information!

Cheers!
